Salts Mill – Saltaire

Creating my linocut art is different from the traditional process in that I do not use a press and ink on to a heavy watercolour paper as below…

GIG RACERS … this artwork captures the racers from the layout ‘reversed’ through the several inking prints using a brayer. Mixing the inks gives me the painterly texture I am looking for. Each time I create an artwork I tend to produce 4 original and different works.
My first, and televised, plein-air linocut.

Proud to have been invited to appear on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year … A mighty challenge for a linocutter to produce in this situation but a great experience!

The opportunity arose from a first time submission of my Waterloo Sunset (pictured below) and I was chosen from several thousand accomplished artists, both amateur and professional.
